Overview

The Amphenol Sine Systems DuraMate Family consists of heavy-duty, environmentally sealed, multipin circular connectors designed for demanding off-road and harsh environmental applications. Available in plastic (AHDP) and metal (AHDM) variants, these connectors feature a quick-connect, three key-way bayonet-locking system and are IP68/69K rated when mated. Key features include a wide range of insert arrangements in Size 24 and Size 18 configurations, high-current capabilities with RADSOK® contacts, and durable, impact-resistant housings.

The connectors include high-strength housings, and low-insertion-force terminals for improved efficiency. Their compression-fit backshells ensure strain relief and pull-out resistance. The environmentally sealed design incorporates high-temperature silicone barriers, protecting against lubricating oils, hydraulic fluids, and fuels. This makes the DuraMate Family a reliable solution for rugged electrical interconnections.

Amphenol Sine Systems DuraMate Family Features

The Amphenol Sine Systems DuraMate Family is designed for rugged applications requiring secure, high-density electrical connections in harsh environments. Let’s explore some of its notable features:

Connector Sizes and Insert Configurations

The DuraMate Family offers heavy-duty, multi-pin circular connectors in two main sizes: Size 24 with 13 insert arrangements and Size 18 with 6 insert arrangements. These configurations support high-density signal and mixed power applications, providing versatility for diverse industrial needs. The connectors utilize a three key-way bayonet locking system for secure and reliable mating, ensuring proper alignment and compatibility during installation.

Durable Housing and Environmental Sealing

The connectors feature high-strength, impact-resistant thermoplastic or zinc-alloy metal housings, designed to withstand harsh environments. With an operating temperature range of -55°C to +125°C, they are suitable for extreme conditions. The environmentally sealed design achieves IP68/IP69K protection when mated, offering resistance to dust, water, mud, and vibration. Durable high-temperature silicone sealing provides an effective barrier against lubricating oils, hydraulic fluids, and fossil fuels. This enhances their reliability in off-road and industrial applications.

Electrical Performance and Contact Systems

DuraMate connectors include high-current configurations with RADSOK contacts for efficient power transmission. The A Series standard contact system supports both stamped and formed or machined contact options, ensuring compatibility with various applications. Low insertion force stamped terminals improve manufacturing efficiency. Similarly, backshells with a compression-fit design offer strain relief and resist maximum pull-out forces for jacketed cable ranges.

Adapter and Accessory Options

To enhance flexibility, the connectors support multiple adapter types. This includes Smooth Ring Adapters (SRA) for a smaller footprint, Small Thread Adapters (STA) for step-down threading, and Wide Thread Adapters (WTA) for use with screw-on or clamshell backshells. Backshell Ring Adapters (BRA) allow compatibility with industry-standard snap-on backshells, providing additional options for customization and serviceability. These features ensure ease of integration into complex systems while maintaining performance and reliability.

Applications

The Amphenol Sine Systems DuraMate Family finds applications in various demanding industries. These connectors are ideal for off-road and industrial vehicles, supporting power and signal transmission in systems exposed to extreme temperatures, vibration, and contaminants. Applications include agricultural machinery adhering to ISO 11783 standards for control and communication, construction equipment, and heavy-duty robotics. Their IP68/IP69K-rated sealing and RADSOK contacts ensure reliable performance in hydraulic and power systems, while the bayonet locking system offers rapid, secure mating. These connectors are also suited for military, railway, and renewable energy applications requiring powerful connectivity solutions.
