Overview

The Infineon Technologies XENSIV Game Controller is an advanced controller featuring an integrated environment for joysticks, gaming sensors, and displays to provide users with a high-precision gaming and controlling experience. It features magnetic position sensors, hall switch triggers, and capacitive touch sensors with advanced human presence detection features for intuitive control applications in both gaming and industrial machines.

The device also provides joystick monitoring that displays connection details, battery status, and configurations. It’s a low-power, Bluetooth®-enabled, plug-and-play device that automatically configures as a human interface device preventing manual installation.

Wide-Ranging Sensors for Versatile Applications

The Infineon Technologies XENSIV Game Controller features a wide range of integrated sensors combined with the CYSBSYSKIT-DEV-01 PSoC microcontroller and BLE transceiver module. It features joysticks and rotary triggers that contain magnetic sensors for high-precision positioning. These sensors also enhance extended usage without experiencing substantial sensor drift.

It also features a pair of magnetic switches that act as linear triggers. There are eight control push buttons located in groups of four on either side of the joystick shield. It has an added feature for proximity detection that can activate the joystick shield when a user holds the device.

The controller is also equipped with a multichannel LED driver that powers the screen display indicating the key configurations and battery status. Moreover, it includes CAPSENSE capacitive touch sensors as well as a motor driver for providing real-time vibrations.

Customizable Shield for Easy Software and Hardware Integration

The shield offers a highly customizable design that supports seamless integration with various software and hardware tools. It makes it more flexible to integrate with various end devices. The design files are available online, allowing users to personalize the gaming controller for specific applications.

The onboard microcontroller stores the connection key for the paired devices and automatically connects with any device in range. However, the controller can often connect to a different device than intended in case of multiple options. The board also features multiple USB ports for charging and debugging applications.

Bluetooth LE Design to Support Low-Power Applications and Extended Battery Life

The onboard Bluetooth Low Energy module, combined with capacitive presence sensors, enables an extended battery life for the joystick shield. Once the shield integrates with any smartphone or computer, it automatically detects them as a human interface device without needing any manual configuration.

It’s supported by a 350mAh lightweight battery. Thanks to its intuitive and customizable applications, the XENSIV Game Controller provides a fitting solution for Bluetooth-enabled gaming and industrial machinery control applications.
